Newcastle United is reportedly planning to sell forward Yoane Wissa in the upcoming summer transfer window, just months after signing him for a club-record £55 million. Wissa joined from Brentford in September 2025 but has struggled due to a severe knee injury that kept him out for the first half of the season. He has only started four Premier League matches since returning and currently ranks as the fourth-choice striker under manager Eddie Howe.
Wissa scored only one goal during his time at the club, in a Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven, and has not played in recent matches, including a loss to AFC Bournemouth. Newcastle might accept a fee of around £15 million, which would represent a significant loss of approximately £35 million. Some reports suggest they could be willing to take a £40 million hit on his value.
Despite the club's intent to sell, Wissa has expressed a desire to stay and fight for his position. Howe has commented that Wissa has more potential to show, insisting that pre-season could allow him to thrive.
